What do you know? A Memorial Week theme.

Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.
Pen: Scriptoriumm Literati Desk Pen with Esterbrook 2048 nib
Ink: Noodler’s Antietam
Paper: Rhodia Uni
Tried to start off strong with the thought for Memorial Day. I thought the curvy baselines would be reminiscent of a flag. I used a pencil and a spline to draw the baselines. Even though I let the ink dry quite awhile, it still smeared some when I erased it. The 2048 nib has some flex. I used it some but not too dramatically.

In the end we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
Pen: Lamy AL Star B nib
Ink: Mont Blanc Lavender
Paper: Tomoe River Paper
More smearing, inconsistent sizing and spacing on the block letters. The ink is nice. I filled this pen Saturday evening at the Atlanta Pen Show. I am not sure whose ink it was but I am grateful to try it.

We don’t know then all, but we owe them all.
Pen: TWSBI 580 XF nib
Ink: Tekker Steel Blue
Paper: Nock Co A5 DotDash
I was going for centered lines but they are closer to right aligned. Still it looked decent overall. The Tekker ink was the one you could order a hex color and they mixed it for you. I named mine Steel Blue. I am not sure what hex code I sent them, but it is a nice ink. It dries very flat which works well in this color.

I did not have time for a thought, pen, ink and paper for the day. Largely because I was working in the yard. One project was this planting in front of our creek bed.

Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato
Pen: Franklin-Christoph Intrinsic 02 XF nib
Ink: Platinum Carbon Black
Paper: Quattro Artist Blank
This design was laid out on the computer and printed. Then I put it on my light table and trace it. Well sometimes it is more of a guide. The bone font was interesting but the feathering kept it from coming out as well as I hoped. I have had better luck with the Quattro paper in the past. This combination just didn’t work out.
