This week each quote comes from something declared a special day. These days are not very serious but they can be fun. Two of them involve adult beverages. >

A woman drove me to drink and I didn’t even have the decency to thank her. - W. C. Fields

Pen: Lamy Studio M nib
Ink: De Atramentis Sherlock Holmes Paper: Nock Co DotDash Pocket Notebook

National Moonshine Day lead me to this quote. Just my handwriting. I got this Lamy Studio in Heidelberg. It is an excellent writer. Maybe they keep the best ones close to home. The Sherlock Holmes ink is all matchy-matchy with the pen.

Life is like a yo-yo, it goes up and down.

Pen: Danitrio
Ink: Edelstein Aquamarine
Paper: Tomoe River Paper

A new pen from the Triangle pen show and a quote for National Yo-Yo Day. I had a sample of Aquamarine with me, so it became the first ink in this nice pen. The lettering is based on a style I found on-line. It is hard to keep the blocks consistent. There should only be two widths, one for upper-case and one for lower. I like the little taper in the lowercase t like in it starting the second line.

I have never been lost but I will admit to being confused for a few weeks. - Daniel Boone

Pen: Visconti Divina 18k F nib
Ink: Akkerman 23 Bekaht Haags
Paper: Rhodia Uni
Another pen from the Triangle Pen Show. The quote is for Daniel Boone Day. The signature is traced from a copy I found on line. The lettering is intended to have another line in the space, but at least at this size, the nib was not fine enough to pull it off. You can see I tried in the first few letters.

Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Pen: Pilot Falcon SM nib
Ink: Bung Box 4B
Paper: Life Noble Note

It was Name Your Poison Day and when I dug into that saying it is really about making a choice. So a quote about decisions seemed a good fit. This is the first time I used Life paper. This first foray was good. I got a little variation in the letters from flexing on the down strokes. I need to keep a lighter touch on the other parts. Misspelling universe was not the worse part. Not noticing it until I posted it was the worst.

Pen: Pilot Metropolitan
Ink: Blackstone Black Stump
Paper: Pelikan Hub 2016 Notepad

It is National Gin Day and I decided on a recipe. This is my favorite Dirty Martini recipe. The trick of just swirling enough Vermouth in the glass to coat the sides is good for any martini. I was given some Blackstone samples in Atlanta. Thanks Dan! I am slowly trying them. This is a nice black. I’ll have to give it a try in a wider nib and see what it looks like when you put down some more ink.
