I keep a close watch on this heart of mine.
Pen: Franklin-Christoph Model 02 XF nib
Ink: Platinum Carbon Black
Paper: Rhodia Le Carre
This pen and ink as my standard note taking combination. It works well on most paper but on Rhodia it seems blacker than most. I wanted the word CLOSE to be bolder but with the XF nib I didn’t quite manage it.

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms. But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken. So I bowed my head and I cried.
Pen: Platinum Preppy
Ink: Noodler’s Heart of Darkness
Paper: Paper For Pens
In just three sentences, you can picture the story and the person. I love that in a song. There are a lot of great inks and a lot of great ink names, but Heart of Darkness for a really, really black ink is a great name.
My mother has bad eyesight and I often write with this pen and ink using large letters. She is able to see it well.

Because your mine, I walk the line.
Pen: Parker Vacumatic
Ink: Waterman Black
Paper: Clairefontaine Pupitre
I picked up two Vacumatics at the Triangle Pen Show auction. I decided to give this one a try with Waterman Black. Here I used simple letter forms but changed the size and kerning to emphasize the rhyming words.

Well when I was just a baby my mama told me son,
“Always be a good boy don’t ever play with guns.”
Well I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.
When I hear that whistle blowin’, I hang my head and I cry.
Pen: Pilot Falcon sm nib
Ink: Pilot Namiki Black
Paper: Tomoe River
Hard for me to read this without mimicking the rhythm of Johnny Cash singing Folsom Prison Blues. For this longer quote, time pressure left me (and you) with just my handwriting.

Take one fresh and tender kiss. Add one night of stolen bliss. One girl, one boy, some grief, some joy… Memories are made of this.
Pen: Wearever Lady Wearever Medium nib
Ink: Aurora Black
Paper: Maruman Mnemosyne
This style actually improves with the little irregularities of hand lettering. This the first time ever this 1959 Lady Wearever was inked. So this is the first words ever written with it. It writes nicely. It is slim and pocket pen length although a little longer than some pocket pens.
p.s Write to someone and just use black ink.
