We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. - Oscar Wilde

Pen: Scriptorium Literati, Esterbrook 2048 nib
Ink: Edelstein Smoky Quartz
Paper: Rhodia Uni

Renee of Scriptorium Pens corrected me on Instagram on the name of the pen. It is of course a Literati, not a Liberati. I have not modified a Literati with Liberace styling to create a new pen. More poor fact checker felt really bad. I am glad someone was paying enough attention to notice. The quote lettering was traced from a layout I did on the computer. I freehanded the pen, ink and paper part and it really shows.

To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all. - Oscar Wilde

Pen: Lamy AL Star M nib
Ink: Lamy Copper Orange
Paper: Nock Co DotDash Notecard

It is interesting to consider where you fall on this. Are you living or just existing? I have been breaking out some fall colors. In this case both the pen and ink are Copper Orange and definitely nice for fall. The ink has a nice amount of shading.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth. - Oscar Wilde

Pen: Edison Nouveau Premiere 1.1 nib
Ink: Robest Oster Spearmint
Paper: Curnow A5 Notebook with Tomoe River Paper

This was a longer quote, so I decided to just go with my own handwriting. I didn’t use a guide sheet but the lines look pretty good. This ink is great with the italic nib and Tomoe River paper. The sheen in the closeup inset shows the red edges.

Given the modern world with anonymity in social media people have Wilde’s mask. I don’t think he imagined how petty and hurtful people would be behind their masks.

The truth is rarely pure and never simple. - Oscar Wilde

Pen: Pelikan M205
Ink: Edelstein Amethyst
Paper: Muji Note

This is a little haphazard although I like the layout. Perhaps this should have been a draft. The ink looks nice on the Muji paper.

True friends stab you in the front. - Oscar Wilde

Pen: TWSBI 580 XF nib
Ink: Noodler’s Antiniem
Paper: Rhodia Uni

The TWSBI XF nib is great for fine lines needed for both this letter style and the simple drawing. Speaking of the drawing, when I was working on it my lovely bride had the TV on. She was watching Forged In Fire. The contestants were making knives a lot like the one in the drawing.
